What kind of writing do you do?

We write case studies, website copy, articles, thought leadership, sales and marketing materials, corporate communications, landing pages, and research-based public content. We also edit research, reports, policy briefs, donor impact studies, high-level integrated works like the CCPI climate performance index, and other existing organizational documents.

Do you do free trials?

If a freebie is what it takes to win you over, we’ll consider it. Please contact us.

Aren’t you a translation company?

Yes, translation is central in our services for Japanese clients. This is because, even if they are requesting services such as copywriting and branding, the source materials and guidance are in Japanese. It’s also because we are right here in Osaka, Japan. We do not put translation at the top of our English services page, as it is not a commonly requested service for non-Japanese clients.

Are you a freelancer?

MacroLingo LLC (formerly Scize Group LLC) is a registered company in Japan. Freelancers are individuals working on an informal basis, often as a “side hustle.” They can be completely inexperienced or quite competent. MacroLingo gives you the security and professionalism of a proper company.

How do NGOs fit into your work?

MacroLingo works with companies that benefit our planet. As NGOs, research organizations, and civil society organizations champion vital causes like climate change & adaptation, refugees, and renewable energy, we offer a specific lineup of services for them. The main focus is on case studies, but not limited to those. This work is based on our work with top NGOs in Europe, Japan, and other locations plus our academic research experience.

Do you do non-English copywriting?

Typically, no. But we have a network of talented translators in Asia, and we love to help. Ask us.

How does payment work?

We can accept direct bank transfer (globally from anywhere or domestically in Japan), PayPal, and credit card payment. For established agencies, organizations, and verifiable individuals, we ask for payment upon completion. For some first-time clients, we may ask for a deposit before starting.

Do you do web design?

We do homepage reform and localization. We generally do not create new sites from scratch. Contact us and tell us specifically what you’re looking for.

What are your qualifications?

MacroLingo is owned and operated by a US-born expat, Dr. Adam Goulston. In addition to a doctorate in psychology, Adam holds multiple master’s degrees, board-certification as a life sciences editor, and over two decades of corporate, NGO, and academic experience. Others working with MacroLingo have verified academic and professional credentials.
